Gurugram, May 26, 2024 — Men Welfare Trust (MWT) has launched the first-ever national bike ride to advocate for the establishment of a Men’s Commission in India. This historic event, flagged off from 24 Seven Mini near Ambience Mall, Gurugram, aims to raise awareness about critical issues affecting men, including rising male suicides and the misuse of gender-based laws. Amidst the fluttering tricolor, the call for justice, equality, and recognition for men’s rights echoed loud and clear.

The initiative, led by renowned biker Amjad Khan, acclaimed for his record setting solo ride covering 3010 kilometers in just 118 hours, will embark on this transformative journey beginning on May 26, 2024. This journey will cover over 15,000 kilometers, passing through key cities across the country, including Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Siliguri, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Chennai, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari, Thrissur, Goa, Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Jammu, Kargil, Leh, Sarchu, Manali, Shimla, Dehradun, Haridwar.
President of Men Welfare Trust, Mr. Amit Lakhani, emphasized the urgent need for this initiative, stating, “In a nation boasting a population of over 1.4 billion, there exists a noticeable void in acknowledging and resolving the challenges confronting men – an oversight that the “Ride for Men’s Commission” initiative seeks to rectify. The ceremonial raising of the flag today marked not only the beginning of National Bike Ride for Men’s Commission, but also the commencement of a pivotal initiative aimed at addressing the pressing issues faced by men across India.
Treasurer Mr. Wasif Ali highlighted the broader implications of the ride: “This journey symbolizes our commitment to gender justice. We are calling for comprehensive mental health support, equitable legal processes, and the adoption of shared parenting practices to prevent the alienation of fathers from their children’s lives. Men deserve a platform to address discrimination, bias, and inequality.”
Volunteer Mr. Priyash Bhargava shared his personal motivation for supporting the ride: “As someone who has witnessed the challenges faced by men firsthand, I am proud to be part of this initiative. It’s time we recognize that men, too, are the victims of violence and injustice. The time has come for men to have a platform where their grievances can be heard, acknowledged, and addressed, This ride is a step towards ensuring that men’s issues are acknowledged and addressed.”
The bike ride is supported by a Change.org petition titled “Support the Ride for Men’s Commission Initiative to Address Men’s Issues in India,” which calls for the establishment of a dedicated commission for men’s and boys’ issues.
“This initiative is not merely about raising awareness; it is about driving tangible change,” emphasized biker Amjad Khan. “By signing and sharing this petition, we invite individuals from all walks of life to join us in our quest for gender equality and justice for all.”
